Kordon Restaurant was established in 1989 and moved to its present seaside location in 2001.
It is situated in a partly restored complex of structures that represents late Ottoman industrial architecture. These buildings were initially used as depots, later as factories to process lime and stone, to produce vegetable oil and finally alcohol and briquette coal. Official documentation dates to 1874.
Old property titles refer to Sultan Mahmut I, Sultan Abdülmecit and Bezm-i Alem Valide Sultan Foundations. In the 1930’s the grandfather of the owner purchased this property. As part of the restoration, a small special hotel (Sumahan - on the water) opened it doors in May 2005 on this historic site.
