360° Istanbul, which is a restaurant on the terrace of Misir Apartmani, Istiklal Caddesi 309, is the most talked about place in Istanbul in 2005.
The building is next to St. Antoine Church in Galatasaray and was built by Egyptian Abbas Halim Pasa in 1910. A group of entrepreneurs including Mike Norman, the former chef of Çiragan Kempinski who has been living in Turkey for years, restored the terrace of the building as a restaurant in 2004.
The restaurant has a 360-degree panoramic view and the menu also is composed of a wide range of various cuisines. The food names put a smile on your face. For example the pizza with proscuitto is called Miss Piggy, while the pizza with Indian spices is called Bollywood Chicken. The macaronis of exotic eastern cuisine are grouped under the title Pasta East, while the list of European-style macaronis is called Pasta West. The fish, salads and soups are well chosen from world cuisine. The eggplant exhibits the richness of the Turkish cuisine. Sushi is served only for dinner. Death by Chocolate Part 2 is the most stunning piece in the sweets section. The wine menu is rich with imported wine.
The bread served with olive oil prior to our orders was superb. The breadbasket was composed of multi-grain and three-colored slices. We ate them all before our food was served. What a shame! Still, they were delicious.
360 Derece opens at 12:00 everyday and the volume and rhythm of the music increase after midnight. Besides DJs, live performances are held from time to time.
A pleasant site for those who wish to dine in the company of the stunning Istanbul panorama. Please do not forget to make your reservation for dinner.
