Along with Istanbul, the best known area of Turkey, the Aegean region encompasses ancient Greek and Roman cities including Troy, Ephesus and Pergamon.

Our suggested tour of Western Turkey includes visits to seven churches: Ephesus, Pergamon, Thyatira, Laodicea, Philadelphia, Sardes and Symyrna.

Recently discovered Aphrodisias, which is still undergoing excavation, and the better known sites of Ephesus and Asklepion are among the tour highlights.

The Aegean region has long been a major international destination, meaning fine hotels, paved roads and easily arranged side excursions are plentiful. So close are the areas many attractions that we have been able to schedule approximately 100 kilometers of travel per day, meaning you have plenty of time to explore the many sites we visit.

    For Mediterranean Tours

Our Mediterranean Tour is held from 20 April-20 June and from September 1-October 31 because the months of July and August in the region can be excessively hot. We feel that tours emphasizing cultural activities are likely to be much more enjoyable when the weather is relatively cool.

The best spots for swimming during this tour are located in Ýztuzu, Gocek, Patara, Öludeniz, Olympus and Kekova. We stop for swimming and snorkeling at all of these places.

We will mainly be enjoying typical Mediterranean fare, with its emphasis on fresh grilled fish and a variety of lightly cooked vegetables drizzled with virgin olive oil.

The main highlights of this tour include Kaya Mezarlari, Aspendos, the best-preserved Roman theater in the world, The Church of St. Nicholas, better known as Santa Claus, and the award-winning Antalya Museum.

In addition to its fantastic geological formations and striking natural beauty, this region covering 20 square kilometers was also home to one of the oldest Christian communities in history. Monasteries and churches carved into sheer rock testify to the religious significance of its early past.
